Looking forward to giving this a shot. Thank you so much for getting it off the ground.
Hope you enjoy testing it out! Please do post any questions and we'll try and answer them as soon as possible :-)
No questions so far. Got my first sub in.
wow, this is great idea, thanks for filmogs!
although i don't understand at all how filling in the source field works. what is it with the codes and all that???
one general suggestion though: i understand we have to fill out seperate forms for film and for release. wouldn't it be useful to have film as something like the master release in the music database to which we could add the different releases? or something like a "copy to draft" function for the basic data that film and release have in common?
Well, well! This was a surprise!
"i don't understand at all how filling in the source field works. what is it with the codes and all that?" -> This system is very basic, minimal at the moment. The idea is we try and get things running as quickly and easily as we can, then add things as required. A form is one of our top upcoming features to add. If you haven't used any type of code before, it may look a bit overwhelming at the moment, although it is really not too hard at all. A lot of it is just copy + paste and fill in the blanks!
"wouldn't it be useful to have film as something like the master release in the music database to which we could add the different releases?" - That is what we have, so we have the Film (Master Release) for example http://www.filmo.gs/film/3-Bridget-Jones-s-Diary , then we have the individual releases coming off of that - http://www.filmo.gs/release/1-Bridget-Jones-s-Diary and http://www.filmo.gs/release/26-Bridget-Jones-s-Diary .
"or something like a "copy to draft" function for the basic data that film and release have in common?" -> just go to the release you want to copy, hit the 'edit data' link (example http://www.filmo.gs/release/1-Bridget-Jones-s-Diary/edit ), then copy it, then make a new release, and paste the data in, then edit it.
"it may look a bit overwhelming at the moment"
It certainly is! I got home, got the first DVD out of my collection, sat down then screeched to a halt. I'm sure however that once I've got a bit of trial and error under my belt, it'll all become clear. It'll be very interesting to see this develop.
ok, i'm totally new to this code thing so it will take a while for me to work it out.
about the order in the credits section: shouldn't director come first?
Yeh I think the form will really help, once we get that in place. However, using the code is really powerful once you get to know it, and it is really quite simple with only a few elements. Please do ask / post examples if you want any help.
"about the order in the credits section: shouldn't director come first?" -> It doesn't matter at this point. I think we can display that in any order we want later on.
OK, there's a few usernames there, where are the others? Am I the only one testing this thing? What, you people must have jobs or something! LOL
greetings, thanks for giving me a new toy right before I go on holidays.
that was meant to be sarcastic, my wife will kill you guys.
This is amazing, and slightly surreal... :)
What sucks I have to wait for Saturday to try this out... damn work and other stuff.
Sweeeeeeeet!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO GET STARTED!!!!!!
Hi folks! Welcome!
Having a fun time.
Hopefully some more folks will join in this weekend when their time has less demands.
Hi, all - thanks for having me aboard! I am poking at it slowly while I get used to JSON and the methodology, but it is looking good so far. This is kind of awkward, actually - I feel like someone's going to come along any minute and say "where's the SID codes? why haven't you filled out LCCN? Lazy Ogger! NmC!"
No negative votes here. It's refreshing to be able to experiment a little. :)
One thing I found funny was not being able to comment in the history, more so than not being able to vote. But i guess if we were able to comment in the history, we'd need some kind of notification system for that!
