Notes At the end of a Faubourg-Saint-Antoine dead end, Leon shares a two-room flat with his sister Marie. In one, he receives his clients: he is a tailor. In the other, Mary receives her own: she is a clairvoyant. Leon feels fully happy until the day he learns what Marie was hiding from him. She prostitutes herself and Maxime, her pretended fiance, is her pimp. On that day, Leon also discovered love in Arlette, a young provincial gathered by Marie.
