Stanis Nievo

Stanislao Nievo (also Stanis Nievo) was an Italian writer, poet, journalist and filmmaker.

After attending classical high school and a degree in natural sciences, Nievo traveled for a while through Central Europe and the north while practicing in various activities, such as docker, cabin boy, fruit picker, metal worker and Italian teacher. In the mid 1950s, he started as rapporteur for Giornale d'Italia.

In addition, Nievi wrote several novels, stories and poems; he has received several awards for this literary work.

Between 1979 and 1985 Nievo also worked as a radio writer for the RAI, since the mid-1960s he also worked for the film.

Nievo campaigned for the WWF and the Foresta Ideale organization, headed the Fondazione Ippolito Nievo for several years and was the initiator of "I Parchi Letterari". In 2003 he received the "Premio Eugenio Montale" for travel journalism.
