Fred Bongusto

  • Born: (Campobasso, Molise, Italy)
  • Died: (Rome, Lazio, Italy) age 84

Fred Bongusto, pseudonym of Alfredo Antonio Carlo Buongusto, was an Italian singer and arranger.

Endowed with a warm and sensual voice, Bongusto was very popular in the sixties and seventies as the classic confidential singer (along with names like Nicola Arigliano, Teddy Reno, Emilio Pericoli, Johnny Dorelli and his friend Peppino di Capri), a figure that refers to that of the crooner in the Anglo-American scene, of which Frank Sinatra is the most famous example.

Since the seventies he has also been the author of film soundtracks, especially in the genre of Italian comedy.
He has collaborated during his long career with international artists including Chet Baker, Don Costa, Toquinho, Vinicius de Moraes and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
