Amanda Kernell, born September 9, 1986 in Umeå, is a Swedish director and scriptwriter. She is especially known for the film Sameblod, who has won several awards.
Kernell grew up in Umeå, where she as a teenager was acting in the municipal theater Teatermagasinet, and through her father she has roots in Sami culture. She has worked as a film teacher in the county of Västerbotten and acted in the film Maison (2007).
In 2009-2013, Kernell joined the Danish Film School in Copenhagen.
Kernell is currently living in Copenhagen, where she, in addition to filmmaking, also teaches in directing.
