Carlo Campanini

  • Born: (Turin, Piedmont, Italy)
  • Died: (Rome, Lazio, Italy) age 78

Carlo Campanini was an Italian actor.

Throughout the 1940s, Campanini played a long series of films, up to ten in a year, sometimes featuring second-rate but always clearly recognizable characters with caricatural exuberance, sometimes with measure: usually he is the naive, good-hearted supporting actor, a little clumsy and extravagant.

He exhibits his tenor voice in La vita รจ bella, a film by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia in which he acts (and sings) alongside Alberto Rabagliati and Anna Magnani, and in the theater he imitates Oliver Hardy paired with Carlo Dapporto, who imitates Stan Laurel instead.
