Sony Music Entertainment Germany GmbH
Balanstraße 73, Haus 31
Sony Music Entertainment Germany is a division of Sony Music Entertainment, one of the world's leading music companies, and is part of Repertoire companies and creative A&R units active in German-speaking countries.
From 2004 to 2008, the German media group Bertelsmann, through its Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG), together with Sony Corporation of America, had a half stake in the joint successor company Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Due to falling sales, however, Bertelsmann sold all of its shares to Sony, which meant the return to the old name Sony Music Entertainment, while BMG formally merged into Sony Music and the Bertelsmann brand was continued with selected musicians in the newly founded BMG Rights Management . The former Bertelsmann labels Ariola, Arista and RCA Records, however, were transferred to Sony Music through the sale.
German Sony Music Entertainment branch, not to be confused with a former Sony Germany company, "Sony Music Entertainment (Germany) GmbH", active until 2005.
